GFA LAUNCH YOUNG REFEREEING POLICY

The Ghana Football Association has officially launched a “catch them young” refereeing policy aimed at unearthing officiating officials at the juvenile level.

The policy is designed to unlock the potential of young referees and replenish the current stock after an expose on football corruption by Ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas found a handful of referees culpably involved.

This initiative will also look to support the education of referees at the grassroots across the Regional Football Associations.

President of the Ghana Football Association Edwin Kurt Simon Okraku speaking at the launch highlighted the need to comb the country and find young boys and girls with passion for refereeing and add value to them.

He adds that his outfit will replicate the “catch them young” refereeing policy at the district level in due course.

“This shows the Association’s commitment to investing in referees” he emphasized.
